Air traffic control of Bokaro airport activated, aircraft coming in its frequency will proceed with stop
Now the aircraft passing through the area on Bokaro will get the signal of Bokaro's Air Traffic Control. Mobile Air Traffic Control System has been installed at Bokaro Airport. On Wednesday, its frequency was finally checked by air traffic control at all airports across the country. So that the pilots of airplanes, helicopters passing through the area can get any kind of assistance through air traffic control. With the establishment of ATC, preparations are being finalized for commercial operations of Bokaro airport. Now the Directorate of Security under the Ministry of Aviation will examine the security arrangements of the airport and issue a license for commercial operation of the aircraft from here.
ATC system supplied by a company from Republic of Slovakia
The training in operation of the installed ATC tower will be given to the technician of Bokaro Steel Plant. Since after five years, Bokaro Steel will be fully responsible for the operation of Bokaro airport. At present, for five years, the Airport Authority will operate the airport along with training the officers and employees of Bokaro Steel to conduct commercial flights and commercial airports. It is known that the installation of the mobile ATC tower has been supplied by the company of Republic of Slovakia. It is being installed by a team of engineers of the supplying company.
The airport was to be operational in 2019
In the year 2018, the foundation stone for the restoration program of Bokaro airport was laid by former Chief Minister Raghuvar Das and Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha. The government had given permission to convert Bokaro into a commercial airport under the Regional Connectivity Scheme. After this, SpiceJet has received tender to start air service from Bokaro to Patna and Bokaro to Kolkata. Since then the restoration work of the airport is going on. So far, the airport authority has spent more than 50 crores.
