Dr. Manmohan Singh's warning: Former PM said - difficult times are coming for the country's economy since 1991; It's not time to be happy, it's time to think

Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who laid the foundation of economic liberalization in the country, has warned about the economy. The former Prime Minister said in a warning tone that the condition of the country's economy as it was in 1991, the same situation is going to happen in the coming times as well. The government should be ready for this.

He stressed that this is not a time to be happy or blissful, but a time for introspection and contemplation. The road ahead is more challenging than in the 1991 crisis. There is a need to redefine our priorities as a nation to ensure a healthy and dignified life for every Indian.

Manmohan was the Finance Minister in the government of Narasimha Rao in 1991.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, who was the Prime Minister of the country from 2004 to 2014, was the Finance Minister in the government led by Narasimha Rao in 1991 and presented his first budget on 24 July 1991. Whose foundation is this budget considered? On the occasion of completion of 30 years of this historic budget of economic liberalization in the country, Manmohan Singh gave his views on many issues on Friday.

Congress praised, said reforms are important

30 years ago, Congress initiated significant reforms of India's economy. The party had prepared a new path for the economic policy of the country. After this governments were formed in the last three decades and today we are counted among the largest economies of the world.

Singh said- I am fortunate to have played a part in this process of reforms along with many allies in the Congress. It gives me great pleasure and pride that our country has made tremendous economic progress in the last three decades. About 30 crore Indian citizens came out of poverty and crores of new jobs were created during this period.

Corona snatched life and job

Manmohan Singh said that I am deeply saddened by the devastation caused by Corona and the loss of crores of jobs. The social sectors of health and education were left behind and unable to keep pace with our economic progress. So many lives and jobs gone, this shouldn't have happened.

Responsibility given to the government in gestures

The former prime minister said that as a finance minister in 1991, I cited the statement of Victor Hugo (French poet) that 'no power on earth can stop an idea whose time has come'.

30 years later, as a nation, we have to remember that poem by Robert Frost (America's Poet) that we have to rest after fulfilling our promises and traveling for miles.
