Former Union Minister's wife murdered: Kitty, wife of P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam, was murdered by miscreants after entering the house,
Kitty Kumaramangalam, wife of late former Union minister P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam, was murdered at her residence in Delhi's Vasant Vihar on Tuesday night. One suspect has been taken into custody. Police is looking for other accused.
Delhi Police says that 67-year-old Kitti Kumaramangalam was murdered by miscreants who entered the house with the intention of robbing her. She lived on the second floor of her residence in Vasant Vihar. Kitty's husband P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam was a minister in the Atal government. He had died of cancer.
According to the police, the lady who took care of their house told that the laundryman had come to their house at around 8.30 pm last night. Two other people were also with him. They tied up the woman and killed Kitty Kumaramangalam. The laundryman has been arrested by the police.
The maid informed the police
Police say that they got the information at 11 pm. When the maid opened herself somehow and made a noise. After the statement of the maid, the police arrested the washerman in the night itself. His name is being told as Raju. 24-year-old Raju lived in Bhanwar Singh Camp of Vasant Vihar. The remaining two accused involved in the incident have also been identified.
Narasimha Rao and Kumaramangalam were ministers in the Vajpayee government
P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam was a big leader of Congress, who later joined BJP. He was an MP from the Salem Lok Sabha seat of Tamil Nadu from 1984 to 1996 and from the Tiruchirappalli Lok Sabha seat from 1998 to 2000. He served as Minister of State for Law, Justice and Company Affairs in the PV Narasimha Rao government from July 1991 to December 1993, and as Union Minister of Power in the Vajpayee government from 1998 to 2000.
