Land merchant Altaf Alam (38) was shot dead near the hall. The incident is being linked to a dispute over 25 dismils of land worth about Rs 3 crore. Altaf was eating idli with his friend in the SUV at around 11 am. After eating, asked to give money to the friend and the seller of the plate. As soon as the friend got down from the car, four people wearing helmets came.

One abused from the front. Altaf rolled to the left after firing started indiscriminately from the driving seat side. Altaf received seven abuses and was defeated on the spot. After this the miscreants fled with scooty and bike. The relatives have accused councilor husband Rizwan and Ali Khan of murder. Actually, on July 1, there was a dispute regarding this land. Both the parties had complained to the police station. But the police did not take any action. People say that if the police had acted at that time, then this incident could have been avoided.

Lal Praveer Nath Shahdev, who sold the land, said- I had made an agreement to sell the land with councilor husband Rizwan last year. The land was not sold to Altaf. Senu Qureshi was forcibly occupying that land. To curb this, I had applied to the Deranda police station in May, but the police did not take any action. I had sold the land long back to Altaf at another place. But he did not give the money. He threatened me when I asked for money. Made a written complaint to the Deranda police, but the police started threatening me with dire consequences.

Altaf had complained - asked for two lakh extortion, if not given, then fired

In the complaint given in the Deranda police station, Altaf wrote – Five months ago, land account number 280, plot number 506 was purchased in Gas Nagar. He was doing boundary work there. On July 1, Rizwan and Ali arrived with 10 boys and threatened to stop the work. Beaten up my colleagues Sanu Qureshi, Taslim Khan and Ravi Kumar. Give extortion of two lakhs where you have to work, otherwise you will be killed. Ali also fired with a pistol. Its voice was also heard by the people around. These people have threatened many times before.

Rizwan was accused – Altaf, Senu and Mainu were forcibly occupying the land

Rizwan had also lodged a complaint with the Deranda police station on July 1. It was written- Sale agreement has been made with Lal Praveer Nath Shahdev for account number 280, plot number 506 in Gas Nagar. Altaf and Senu Qureshi and Mainu Qureshi of Beldar Mohalla are trying to forcibly grab that land. He is also doing log boundaries.
