Tokyo Olympics: Manipur government will give a gift of Rs 1 crore to Mirabai; Reward for getting silver medal for India in weightlifting
India has won its first medal in Tokyo Olympics. Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal in the women's 49 kg weight category by lifting a total of 202 kg. Mira is the first Indian athlete to win a medal on the first day of the Olympics. Hou Jihui of China won the gold medal by lifting 210 kg. Indonesia's Cantika Windi won the bronze.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also had a live conversation with Mirabai. He has announced that a reward of Rs 1 crore will be given to Meera by the Manipur government. Biren Singh shared the online conversation on social media.
Expressing happiness, Biren Singh said that at the time when Mirabai won the medal, a meeting was going on with Home Minister Amit Shah with all the Chief Ministers of North East. In such a situation, in the middle of the meeting, Biren Singh gave the news of getting the medal and then everyone stood up and congratulated Meera.
Team India's great start in badminton
The pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwik Sairaj Ranki Reddy got success in the Badminton Men's Doubles group match. They defeated world No. 3 pair Li Yang and Wang Chi 21-16, 16-21, 27-25 in an interesting match.
