Modi's US tour ends: PM leaves for India after speech at UN General Assembly, will reach Delhi at 11:30 am

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's US visit ended on Saturday night. They have left for India from New York and will reach Delhi at 11.30 am today. US has returned 157 artifacts to Modi. These artifacts are several centuries old, which were smuggled to America.

Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). For this event, PM Modi had reached New York from Washington DC, America. He started the speech at the 76th Summit of the UNGA by saying Namaskar comrades.

Continuing the speech, he said that congratulations to Abdullah ji for assuming the post of President. It is a matter of pride for the developing countries. For the last one and a half years, we are facing the biggest pandemic after 100 years. I pay tribute to those who lost their lives in such a pandemic.

  • Targeted Pakistan without naming

Without naming the PM, he targeted Pakistan. He said that it can be heavy on countries that use terrorism as a tool. We have to be careful that no country can use Afghanistan for its own interests. The women and children there have to be taken care of. We have to fulfill our responsibility.

  • Success fails if work is not done on time: Modi

PM Modi targeted UN by quoting Chanakya. He said that Chanakya had said centuries ago. When the right work is not done at the right time, then time itself thwarts the success of that work. Therefore, the United Nations has to reform itself. Many questions are arising. These questions have been deepened by Covid, terrorism and the Afghan crisis.

  • Said on Indo-Pacific - the ocean is our common heritage

Advocating open trade in the Indo-Pacific, Modi said that our oceans are our common heritage. These have to be protected from being captured by force of expansion and strength. The world has to raise its voice in unison. India's initiative during India's presidency in the Security Council points to this.

  • What is UNGA?

The General Assembly is one of the six main organs of the United Nations. All 193 members of the United Nations are part of it with equal rights and responsibility. All the work like the budget of the UN, the membership of the Security Council, the appointment of non-permanent members is the responsibility of the General Assembly.

Its task is to discuss international peace and security. These include development, human rights, international law and peaceful settlement of disputes between countries. The annual meeting of the General Assembly is held every year at the UN Headquarters in New York. Its first meeting was held on 10 January 1946.
