Elections may be announced in the first week of November.

The government is trying to start the election process by November 15 and be completed before December 25. Regarding the elections, the State Election Commission had held a meeting with the DC-SPs of the districts through video conferencing. In this, the situation of polling stations, security measures etc. were reviewed.

• Voting can be held in four to five phases

According to sources, polling can be held in four to five phases in the state. One phase usually takes a week. In such a situation, the election process will go on for 40 to 50 days. In Bihar too, polling is going on in 11 phases. There the notification of Panchayat elections was issued on 24th August and the elections will be held on 15th December. There it is taking a total of 115 days in 11 phases.

• Date not fixed, but elections this year: Alamgir

In this regard, Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam said that the government will hold panchayat elections by December in any case. All the preparations have been done for it. Can't tell the date yet as it is in process. The state government will send the election proposal to the governor. After getting approval from the Raj Bhavan, the State Election Commission will issue the notification of the election.

• Tenure has increased twice

Panchayat elections were earlier held in the state in 2015. According to the first meeting of the Panchayats, the tenure was completed on 15 January 2020. But the election could not be held due to Corona. The state government has extended its tenure twice for six months. This term is also being completed in December.
