Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday urged industrial houses to fulfill their commitment to the use of land for setting up units and not to leave it vacant as it is associated with the hopes and aspirations of development. Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone of the second unit (Unit-2) of Dalmia Bharat Cement Plant at Balidih, Bokaro at a cost of Rs 567 crore, Soren said that attracting investment and generating huge employment is one of the topmost. State's priority for all-round development
“If the government gives land to industrial houses, they should use it to set up industries. Do not leave it empty or allow it to encroach on it. Poor farmers, the needy, and other people are living their life with great hope. So that they can get employment opportunities and empower them."
He said that the priority of the government under the new industrial policy is that nothing is impossible if maximum capital investment is made in the state.
Referring to the Bokaro Steel Plant of PSU Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), the Chief Minister said that it was once Asia's biggest factory but now the situation has changed. He said the government was ready to restore its reputation.
The existing Dalmia Bharat Cement Plant in the state, which has a production capacity of 3.7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), will reach a production capacity of 6.2 MTPA after the commissioning of the new unit.
For this, the company will invest Rs 567 crore. An MoU was signed between Dalmia Cement India Limited and the Department of Industries at the Investor Summit held in the presence of Soren in New Delhi in August under the Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy- 2021. For setting up of cement plant this year,” a statement from the state government said.
The state government has provided 16 acres of land to the company for the expansion of the Dalmia Bharat Cement Plant.
The cement maker had made a commitment in this regard during the Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (JIIPP) 2021 launched by the Chief Minister in New Delhi on August 28.
The target is to complete the second unit of the plant in a year.
In order to attract large investments and make Jharkhand a major hub for the manufacturing of electric vehicles, the chief minister had earlier offered discounts and facilities to mega industrial players including Tata, Vedanta, SAIL, NTPC, and Maruti Suzuki.
