Center's second affidavit in Supreme Court: In the matter of compensation on death from Corona, said – money is there but cannot give compensation
And what is in the affidavit of the Central Government?
The Center has said in the affidavit that it has come to the permanent bar. Management of National Assets (NDRF-SDRF), funds from the Government of India are also utilized.
The rest will have to be spent on 12 works to be completed from 2015 to 2020. Flood, Flood, Earthquake, Fire, Water, Tsunami, Hail, Avalanche, Post Burst, Cold Wave Implementation, Kairana.
Death toll will continue to rise: Center
The Center had earlier said in the affidavit that so far 3,85,000 deaths have occurred due to corona in the country. This number will increase. In such a situation, it is not possible to give to every victim family. Because the government has economic limits. After the first affidavit of the Center, the Supreme Court had directed to file the second affidavit. At the same time, he had reserved his decision.
It was said earlier – it would be wrong to give compensation on death due to any one disease.
In the previous affidavit, the Center had said that the government would not be able to give a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of those who died of corona. Compensatory compensation under the Disaster Act is applicable only in case of natural calamities like earthquake, flood etc. The government argues that it would be wrong if compensation is given on death due to one disease and not on another.
If the compensation is given, the money of the states will run out.
In the 183-page affidavit, the Center had also said that such payments are made from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) available with the states. If the states are directed to pay Rs 4 lakh as compensation for each death, their entire fund will be exhausted. Along with this, along with the ongoing fight against Corona, it will become impossible to fight disasters like floods, cyclones.
All deaths due to corona will be certified
The Center had told the court that all deaths due to corona should be recorded only as Covid deaths. It doesn't matter where these deaths happened. Earlier, in many media reports, the issue of rigging was raised in the figures of deaths due to corona in more than 6 states.
Till now, only the deaths of corona infected were recorded as covid deaths in hospitals. Even deaths at home or at the parking or gate of the hospital were not being recorded in the Covid records. Because of this, there was a difference in the death figures.
Hearing of two petitions
The Supreme Court is hearing two separate petitions, in which Kareena has been asked to pay compensation to the families of those who died. Advocate Ripak Kansal has filed the petition. While the other is of Gairav Kumar Bansal. In these, there has been a demand to direct the Center to give compensation and make a simple system for issuance of death certificates.
