State government alert: Genome sequencing will be done for those coming to Jharkhand from 12 delta plus affected states

 The Delta Plus variant of Corona has been entered in 12 states of the country. In view of this, Jharkhand is also fully alert. Arun Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department has directed all DCs to take special vigilance. He has said that people coming to Jharkhand from the states where there are cases of Delta Plus variant, RTPCR test should be done.

In this, those who are found positive, get them admitted to Kovid Hospital and contact tracing should also be done. Send such positive samples to Bhubaneswar for genome sequencing. He has asked DC and Civil Surgeon to send 300 samples every month from 10 corona testing centers in the state to ILS Bhubaneswar. Till now only 50 to 100 samples are being sent every month.

What is Delta Plus variant

60% more infectious than Delta, infection reaches the lungs in 3 days

This new variant is formed after mutation of the delta or b.1.617.2 variant. The addition of the K417N mutation to the spike protein of the delta variant has resulted in the addition of the delta plus variant. It is 60% more contagious than the delta variant. It takes just three days for Delta Plus to reach the lungs.
