A railway station has been built on the lines of an airport in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat. There is also a five star hotel above it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate it on 16 July. The program will be held through video conferencing. Along with this, Modi will also inaugurate the Aquatic and Robotics Gallery and Nature Park in Gujarat Science City. According to Sanjeev Kumar Lohia, Managing Director, Indian Railway Station Development Corporation, for the first time in the country, a hotel has been constructed at a railway station.

delayed due to corona

The development work of Gandhinagar railway station was to be completed in March itself, but due to the second wave of Corona, there was a delay of three months. Its biggest feature is that it is built under the building of a 318-room five-star hotel. At the same time, this is the first railway station in the country, where a separate prayer room and baby feeding room have been built.

Garuda and Indian Railways worked together

It is a joint venture between Gandhinagar Railway and Urban Development Corporation Limited (Garuda) and Indian Railways, in which Garuda holds 74%. A 318-room five star hotel was built on top of 50 pillars of 2.5 * 2.5 meters at the station. There is a hotel 22 meters above the railway station and to reach there underpasses were also given on both sides of the railway station.

Lift and escalator next to ticket window

Under this building, a lift and escalator have been installed next to the ticket window near the main entrance, so that the passenger does not face any problem in reaching the platform. To reach the ticket window, the passenger has to pass through the door frame metal detector. A separate lift has been arranged to enter the hotel near the entry gate, which will take you directly to the hotel reception.

hospital for first aid

Apart from all the facilities including entry gate, booking, lift-escalator, book stall, food stall, a small hospital for first aid is also being built in the new building. After this, the old station building will now be vacated. Only the station master and other railway staff will remain here. The entire station will be under the surveillance of CCTV cameras.
