India-China Foreign Ministers met in Tajikistan: Spoke for an hour on border dispute in Ladakh, all unresolved issues will be placed in the next meeting of Army Commanders

India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi met in Tajikistan on Wednesday. In this meeting, which lasted for an hour in Dushanbe city, about 920 km from Ladakh, there was talk on resolving the ongoing dispute over the Line of Actual Control in Western Ladakh.

Both the ministers agreed that all the remaining issues should be discussed in the next meeting of the Army Commanders. At the same time, such a solution should be found by mutual consent, which is acceptable to both the parties. It was also agreed that neither side would take such unilateral steps that could escalate tensions.

Separate meeting from SCO meeting

Jaishankar is in Tajikistan to attend meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the SCO Liaison Group on Afghanistan. His meeting with the Chinese foreign minister was kept separate from the SCO. In this, the External Affairs Minister reiterated that both sides agreed that prolonging the current situation is not in the interest of either side. It is affecting the relationship in a wrong way.

Jaishankar stressed that it is beneficial for both the countries to work for an early resolution of the remaining issues along the LAC in Western Ladakh. Also, there should be full compliance with bilateral agreements and protocols. The Ministry of External Affairs gave information about this on social media.

Tension persists since May last year

Tension between India and China has been going on in Ladakh since May last year. During this, there was a skirmish between India and the Chinese army in Galwan, in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred. More than 40 soldiers of China were also killed, but it never gave their exact number.

Soldiers withdrew from some areas, dispute still remains

According to the report, after several rounds of talks between the two sides, in February this year, they are withdrawing their forces and military equipment from some areas near the disputed border. Both sides first decided to withdraw their troops around Pangong Tso, but areas like Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang in eastern Ladakh are yet to come out of the tension.

Met the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan

Amidst the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, the Taliban have captured many areas, there have also been reports of confrontation between the Afghan army and the Taliban from many places. Meanwhile, in Dushanbe, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Mohammad Hanif Atmar on Tuesday. Political, security and peace process were discussed between the two.

50 diplomats called back

The meeting took place at a time when the Taliban is rapidly taking control of most areas of Afghanistan. The whole world is taking the matter seriously at this time. India had withdrawn around 50 diplomats and security personnel from its consulate in Kandahar in the wake of the war between the Afghan forces and the Taliban.
