On the basis of secret information received by SP Chandan Kumar, the police on Thursday arrested seven smugglers who were smuggling banned uranium. On the behest of the arrested smugglers, the police recovered 6.4 kg of radioactive uranium by raiding in Balidih and Jaridih. In this case, it is expected that soon the NIA will start the investigation of the whole matter. In this case, the police are looking for Munna alias Ishank, a resident of Nimiyaghat in Giridih district of Jharkhand and Dinesh Mahato, a resident of Jaipur Siddhi, Purulia, West Bengal. Munna alias Ishank is being described as a local agent of smuggling. He had given uranium for sale to the arrested smugglers.
However, from where this uranium was brought and to whom it was to be sold, the police is not able to give any information about it. Explain that uranium is used to make nuclear reactors, nuclear power and powerful explosives. According to the police, the arrested smugglers have been jailed in some or the other case in the past.
Action on the information of the Central Investigation Agency
According to the information, on the information of the Central Agency, SP Chandan Kumar Jha constituted four police teams. These teams raided and arrested the accused and recovered a total of 6 kg 400 grams of uranium kept in two leather packs of 4 kg 600 grams kept in plastic packs from Balidih and 900 grams from Jainamod. In this case, the Harla Police has registered an FIR against a total of 9 people under the 24 (1) (a) Atomic Energy Act, 1962.
The arrested smugglers include Deepak Mahto, resident of Harla Ranipokhar Old Tand, Krishnakant Rana, resident of Chira Chas Vastu Vihar Phase 2, Pankaj Kumar, resident of Chaufan Vasti Harla, Mahavir Mahato, resident of Chitahi Harla, Hareram Sharma, resident of Rajendra Nagar Balidih, Bapi Chandra, resident of Chas Main Road, Jainamod Jaridih. Resident Vinod Singh is included. Made in USA is written on the recovered uranium packet. Manufactured on 4th February 2019 and expired on 3rd July of 2025 is also reported.
In the whole case, Harla police station in-charge Jai Govind Prasad Gupta told that when the police team reached the house of Deepak Kumar Mahato, a resident of Purnatad Ranipokhar, for the raid, the people present with Deepak started running away after seeing the police. The police chased them away and caught them. A total of five youths were arrested here along with Deepak. During interrogation, all of them told that they were asked by Bapi, a resident of Chas, to find a customer for uranium. The police went with all of them as customers to find Bapi. Bapi came on the bike and took out a packet of uranium from him. After which the police also caught him. Later, on his behest, a youth named Anil was also arrested.
The arrested Anil told the police that Munna alias Ishank, a resident of Nimiyaghat in Giridih, had given him uranium to sell. Apart from this, Dinesh Mahato, a resident of Jaipur Siddhi in Purulia, West Bengal, has also been given that uranium to sell. Police is now conducting raids to nab them both.
Uranium kept wrapped in carbon in the police station
Police said that after presenting the recovered uranium in the court, it will be kept wrapped in carbon at Harla police station itself. The opinion of experts is also being taken in this matter. Later it will be shifted to a safe place.
The arrested Bapi Dutta told that the Munna of Giridih had told him to get his money by selling uranium fraudulently. Bapi told that Munna had given him a piece of glass in the first 30 thousand by calling him a diamond. In return for the same money, he gave her a packet of uranium. And said that by selling it for 12 lakhs take your 30.
At present, the matter is being investigated from every aspect.
