Political suspense continues in Karnataka, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa may resign; Today, two years of BJP government are being completed in the state.

 

The round of speculation that started on Sunday regarding the political future of Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa continues on Monday. BJP sources said he is likely to resign on Monday after completing two years as chief minister.

He said, 'I have decided that I will work till the last minute. I had said two months back that I am ready to resign whenever I am asked. Till now I have not received any message from the centre. Does BJP not have an alternative to Yeddyurappa in Karnataka?

• Yedi is a strong leader of Lingayat caste. He is a fan of Karnataka politics. At present, the leaders of his stature are not even with the Congress or any other party.

• So even if the BJP removes him from the post and makes someone else the chief minister, Yeddyurappa's support will be needed.

• If Yeddyurappa cuts his throat from BJP, then BJP may also have to bear the loss in the state.

Yeddyurappa has already shown his political standing

Yeddyurappa resigned from the BJP on 31 July 2011. On 30 November 2012, he formed his own party named Karnataka Janata Paksha. In fact, Yediyurappa's move was led by the Lokayukta's investigation into the illegal mining case. Yeddyurappa's name came up in this investigation. BJP had to bear the brunt of this. Yeddyurappa again joined BJP in 2014.

After this, during the political drama in Karnataka in 2018, he became the Chief Minister for the first two and a half days and left power after an emotional speech. Then in 2019, the process of becoming the Chief Minister by proving majority again had increased Yeddyurappa's stature in front of the high command.
