Preparation for third wave: beds are being increased across the country, in Ranchi it has come down from 2200 to 800; Expert said - third wave of corona will come in 15 to 30 days
In the midst of the possibility of a third wave of Corona, preparations are going on at a fast pace in some hospitals of the capital. At the same time, RIMS is preparing to deal with the crisis only through the paper process. Experts say that there is a possibility of a third wave in 15 to 20 days. But, the infection rate will be very low. A maximum of 500 to 750 infected can be found in a day. In the second wave in RIMS, the number of beds was increased to more than 1000, but it was reduced as the infection decreased.
At present, only 300 beds have been kept in the parking center in the name of the third wave in RIMS. Here the surgery ward was to be converted into a pediatric ICU, but the process has not started yet. Children's equipment is not installed in the trauma center. At the same time, 60-bed ward and ICU are completely ready in Sadar Hospital. Dainik Bhaskar investigated the preparations for the third wave in hospitals. It was learned that the government had given instructions to increase the beds in view of the possibility of a third wave. At the same time, it has been reduced to less than 40%. There was availability of about 2200 beds including private and government hospitals in the district, which has now reduced to less than 800. Dr. Devesh of RIMS Covid Task Force said that most people have already been infected in the first and second wave. Vaccination has also been sufficient. The immunity of the people is getting stronger. In such a situation, the speed of infection will be less this time.
Lessons learned from the lack of oxygen... the work of setting up the plant is going on fast
In view of the lack of oxygen in the second wave, arrangements have already been started. Far from the first and second wave, most of the private hospitals did not even have PSA plants. There were no oxygen tanks. Following the instructions of the Health Department, preparations are on to set up oxygen plants in dozens of private hospitals. PSA plants have been installed in many hospitals including Raj Hospital, Alam, Ram Pyari, Pulse, Medica, Orchid.
Oxygen plant being installed here
- Three plants are being set up in Sadar. Apart from this, a PSA plant with a capacity of 1000 liters per minute to supply oxygen is being installed.
- A PSA plant is ready for inauguration in front of RIMS Paying Ward. The work of installing a tank of 13 thousand kiloliters is going on outside the Parking Kovid Hospital.
- A 20 thousand kiloliter capacity tank is also being installed at Itki's Tuberculosis Arogyashala.
Missed every level in the second wave... Lessons Lent now Tracing - still doesn't happen
Tracing - still doesn't happen
- Missed here - tracing could not be done on the correct scale. Negligence was being done at every level. Hence, positive cases kept coming. More than 1500 infected were identified in a single day.
- Now strictly - tracing should be strictly. Sampling is being done at railway stations, airports etc., but the families of those who are found infected should also be traced. Apart from the district, there is a need to maintain contact with every infected by creating a control room at the block level as well. In the last wave, the tracing of those in isolation could not be done and the deaths occurred due to lack of treatment at home, there is no record of this with the Health Department and the district.
Testing - New labs not built
- Missed here - the way the testing should have been done, it did not happen. Initially the testing capacity in the lab was less, so the backlog was increasing. It took a week for the report to come. Gradually the scope of investigation was expanded.
- Now strictness - After the second wave, the exercise of buying RTPCR has intensified in some districts. There is a need to focus on starting the sample test by purchasing the machines ahead of time and installing them in the lab. The more sample tests are done, the more infected will be identified and treatment will be easier. At present, on an average 4000 samples are tested every day in the district, out of which more than 2500 are samples from other districts. In Ranchi, only 5000 samples need to be tested daily.
Treatment - ICU beds are very less.
- Missed here - the hospitals did not learn from the first wave about the treatment. Suddenly the infected were being identified and the health department and hospitals were exposed. The beds were short. There were no resources. There was shortage of manpower. There should be changes in these systems.
- Now Kadai - 300 beds have been kept in RIMS for the third wave. Sadar has 60 beds ready for children. But, it is not enough. For the third wave, at least 5000 government and private oxygen supported beds need to be kept ready in the district. It should have more than 750 beds with ICU.
