Tension increased again in South China Sea: China claims - American warship was driven away, America said - lie
The Chinese military said on Monday that it had driven down a US warship from the South China Sea. The ship violated international rules. The Chinese military issued a statement saying- 'The American ship was near the disputed Paracel Islands. He had illegally entered Chinese waters. We drove him away.’ The US Navy did not take permission from us to send the ship to the Parasail area. This is a violation of China's sovereignty. This has reduced stability in the South China Sea.
We have asked America to stop such provocative actions soon.' In response to China's allegations, the US Navy also issued a statement. He said, 'Our warship has complied with international law. Our Navy has the right to enter the Paracel Island area. China's claim is false. China cannot stop us. According to international rules, our ships will enter different waters, aircraft will take off. We will conduct activities on the ground.
China occupied 750 km area of Paracel
The Paracel Islands are called Jikksha in China. There are hundreds of islands here. China claims this island group. While Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei oppose China's claim. China has drawn nine border lines (nine dash lines) in this area. China says that historically the area falling within these boundary lines belongs to it. Other countries, including the US, do not recognize the nine dash line. China has occupied the Paracel Islands since the 1970s. It extends for about 400 km to eastern Vietnam and 350 km to the southeast of Hainan Island. Vietnam claims this area. He calls this area Hong Sa.
America's move in the South China Sea for the second time in a month
In the second week of last month, the US aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan entered the South China Sea. It was accompanied by the guided missile cruiser USS Shiloh and the guided missile destroyer USS Halsey. China objected to this. Even then there was tension.
China also does not accept the decision of the International Court of 2016
China's 'nine-dash line' was struck down by the International Court of Arbitration in The Hague on 12 July 2016. The court had said in the judgment that China has no historical right over the South China Sea. Yet China interfered with the traditional fishing rights of the Philippines in the region. China never accepted this decision of the International Court of Justice. It continues its expansion into the South China Sea.
