JEE Advanced examination was held on Sunday at four centers in the district for admission to all 23 IITs in the country including IIT ISM Dhanbad. IIT Dhanbad and Perth Digital Zone had two centers each at Kusum Vihar and Ayan Digital Zone IDZ Kumardih Barwada. In the first shift, the examination of paper one was held from 9 am to 12 noon and in the second shift the examination of paper two was held from 2:30 to 5:30 of the day. The examination was peaceful at all the centres. No case of malpractice came to light.


Apart from Dhanbad, a total of 860 students from nearby districts like Giridih, Kaderma were to appear in the examination, in which about 60 were absent. A total of 114 questions were asked in both the papers for a total of 360 marks. Both the papers had 57-57 questions carrying 180-180 marks. Of these, 19-19 questions were from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. According to experts, overall the level of question paper was good. Some maths questions were average and some difficult. There were some questions which took more time for the candidates to solve. Whereas Physics questions were easy. Whereas in-organic was easy in chemistry and questions related to organic were average.


1125 seats in IIT Dhanbad, 20% reserved for foreigners

There are 1125 seats in IIT ISM, Dhanbad for admission to courses like B.Tech, Integrated M.Tech etc. through JEE Advanced. The chairman of JEE Advanced of the institute, Prof. According to Shubhendu Kumar, about 20 percent of the 1125 seats will be reserved for foreign students. Earlier, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO card holders) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI card holders) who were not earlier considered foreign candidates.
