PM Modi to lay the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway in UP: 594 km long, costing Rs 36,000 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the 594-km-long Ganga Expressway in Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The six-lane expressway built at a cost of Rs 36,230 crore is said to be the longest expressway in Uttar Pradesh.

Starting from near Bijauli village of Meerut, the expressway will go till near Judapur Dandu village of Prayagraj. Better network and interconnectivity of expressways will connect every end of Uttar Pradesh with Lucknow and Delhi.

The program of laying the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway by PM Modi will start at 12 noon from Shahjahanpur at Railway Ground Rauja.

Here are the salient features of the Ganga Expressway:

•  The estimated cost of the six-lane Ganga Expressway is Rs 36,230 crore.

•  The expressway will pass through twelve districts including Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, and Pratapgarh.

Seven railway overbridges, 14 major bridges, 126 minor bridges, 375 underpasses, nine public convenience complexes, two toll plazas, and 15 ramp toll plazas will be built in Ganga Expressway.

Interchange facility will be available at 17 places on Ganga Expressway.

•  A 3.5 km long airstrip will also be built-in Shahjahanpur.

• About 18,55,000 trees will be planted on the Ganga Expressway.

• Ganga Expressway will promote agriculture, commerce, tourism, and industries in the less developed areas of the Rohilkhand and Vindhya region.

•  The Ganga Expressway will act as an industrial corridor connecting production units, development centers, and agricultural production centers with the national capital.

•  Opportunities for education, training and the establishment of medical institutions will be available.

•  Ganga Expressway will play an important role in setting up food processing units, godowns, agricultural markets, and milk-based industries.
