Bokaro: Parents upset over fee collection staged a silent protest, said- there will be a solution soon
Bokaro: Despite the closure of schools in lockdown, private schools are collecting fees arbitrarily. The members of Jharkhand Parents Association, troubled by school fees, have made seven requests to the Bokaro Deputy Commissioner seven times, but their demand was not heard. Angry parents staged a silent demonstration in front of many schools in Jharkhand besides Bokaro. The parents put their demand in front of the administration by taking play cards in their hands.
The school was closed, then what about the fees?
Ajay Rai, president of Jharkhand Guardians Association, submitted a memorandum to Bokaro Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Singh on Friday. Through the memorandum, a demand was made to implement the Jharkhand Teaching Learning Amendment Act-2017 in Bokaro district. Bokaro Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar assured the Jharkhand Guardian Association that very soon a fee determination committee would be formed and necessary action would be taken under this act.
What is the demand of Jharkhand Parents Association?
Jharkhand Education Tribunal Amendment Act-2017 should be made effective in every district of the state so that no school can increase tuition fees or collect fees on any other item as per their wish. For this, a school-parents teacher association should be formed, which is mandatory, only on whose recommendation the fee fixation committee can take a decision.
Depriving children of online education in lieu of fees by any school is immoral and shows the mental bankruptcy of the school management. Which should be stopped.
The order of the Government of Jharkhand, which was issued last year on letter no. 13/V 12-55/2019 dated 25/06/2020, is still effective today. According to the said order, private schools cannot charge fees other than tuition fees, but at present the schools have put that order on hold and are charging all kinds of fees. An order should be issued again by the government so that the financially weak and unemployed parents can get some relief during the corona epidemic.
The government should review the details of income and expenditure of all the affiliated schools for the last 5 years so that those who are financially weak schools get support, so that the teachers working in them - non-teaching staff, drivers, clerks can get salary. Schools running in surplus, whose accounts still have crores of rupees in fixed deposits and which are still charging fees, should be curbed on the fees charged on various items on such schools.
The state government should intervene to ban the fees charged for various items in addition to tuition fees to the schools open on the land provided on lease by the central and state governments.
Schools need to be controlled
After meeting the Deputy Commissioner Bokaro, Jharkhand Parents Association President Ajay Rai said that the state government should curb the way private schools are doing their arbitrariness. Along with this, the Jharkhand Education Tribunal Amendment Act 2017 should be made effective in all the districts of the state so that the state government can control the schools, as well as solve the problems being faced by the parents every year. After meeting the Deputy Commissioner, Bokaro District Jharkhand Guardian Association President Mahendra Rai said that 'the problems of the parents will be resolved very soon by the formation of the District Fee Fixation Committee and the way the Deputy Commissioner has taken the whole matter seriously, we believe that Bokaro The arbitrariness of private schools in the district will be curbed.
